One thing I love to do is road bike. Maybe like fifteen years ago I found an old Schwinn roadbike for sale online and I snatch it right up. Prior to this bike I had only really used cheap mountain bikes all my life. And those are much more heavy and cumbersome to ride/travel with. I can remember trying to take the wheel off my mountain bike and stuff it in my car and getting bike oil everywhere. Not a good look.

But my Schwinn? My blue beauty? I fell in love with her the first time I rode here. It’s like riding butter. Butter baby! The entire bike is really light too, and when I do need to put it in the back of my car the quick release handle makes that process incredibly easy. I love her so much that I’ve kept her for fifteen years, refusing to make an upgrade. She’s been with me for so long I can’t ever dream of parting with her. Even after putting some after market stuff on her, like toe clips and a rack on the back she’s still so easy to carry and maneuver.
One of the many places I’m planning on visiting this summer is South Georgian Bay and brining my road bike! It’s going to be amazing and there’s so many bike lanes! There’s one called the Collingwood-Wasage Connection and it seems so easy, not really that hilly. It’s right on the cost of the lake and is about eight miles long. Easy peasy. I would probably do that loop a couple times in a day, eight miles is nothing. Another one I’ve found is the Badjeros Loop, this one is a bit longer and has more elevation change. But at 45 miles, it’s not too bad. I’ll just throw on my trusty saddle bag on my Schwinn and bring plenty of snacks and water.
I really can’t wait to get out of the city! I’m also 100% ready for some sun. It feels like this particular winter has been especially grey. We had a respite in the beginning of March, but now, as of this writing, it’s back to some grey clouds and dreary days. UGH! My spirits are so down. Anyways I was talking with my friend who also is a big bike aficionado that she’s created a whole business around bikes and I invited her along for the ride. OMG I cannot wait. What could be better than biking with friends along a beach, snacking and getting your feet wet along the way. I’m just dreaming of warm sunny days with the wind blowing through my hair and taking deep breathes of fresh air.
Soon!
